Smart Locks That Support Remote Lock

Your user links their lock or access system account through Seam Connect Webview. Seam returns the doors behind it as devices and entrances. Confirm can_remotely_lock is true on what comes back. False means the lock is capable but cannot use it right now, and a missing property means it never does this.

One POST to /locks/lock_door with the device_id. The response is an action attempt: pending means the command is travelling, success means the lock's system accepted it, error carries the reason it did not. The call is the same for a battery deadbolt and a wired controller.

Success on the action attempt means the lock's system accepted the command. Read properties.locked off the device for the bolt's state, or subscribe to lock.locked, which fires for manual locking too. A deadbolt extends even when the door is ajar, so pair the API with a door sensor where that distinction matters.
