Smart Lock 2nd Generation
The August 2nd Generation Smart Lock comes in two colors; silver and dark gray, and allows you to access your home using Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, or your smartphone. It automatically unlocks your door as you approach and automatically locks it after you enter. It also has a 24/7 activity log that lets you know who has accessed your door and when, and is designed to be installed quickly by replacing only the interior of your existing deadbolt.

About Yale Home
Yale Home is the global version of Yale’s smart-lock platform, built on the same underlying technology originally developed by August in the US. Outside North America, the Yale Home app is the main way users manage Yale smart locks, but behind the scenes it still uses the same cloud infrastructure powering August and Yale Access. While the US/Canada versions appear under different names, the platform itself is essentially unified — the differences mostly reflect regional branding and product availability. The only “real” API connected to this ecosystem is still the August Developer API (not publicly open), and Yale Home communicates through that same backend. Confusion arises because Yale also sells products under older or separate ecosystems (like Yale Connect / Smart Living), which do not use this shared August-based cloud. As a result, some locks are permanently tied to one ecosystem, while many newer models can switch ecosystems by inserting different smart modules — but modern Yale Home products are all powered by the same core platform that drives Yale Access and August in the US.
