Smart lock integrations

Automate guest access through your property-management software

Your property-management software can automate guest access when it supports your lock's exact model and connection method. If that connection is missing, your software provider can evaluate a Seam integration using the requirements below.

What the workflow needs to do

  1. Match each rental and shared entrance to the correct lock.
  2. Create access for the guest's stay, then confirm that the credential is ready.
  3. Include the usable credential in the guest's arrival instructions.
  4. Update access when the booking changes and end access when the stay is cancelled or finishes.

Seam's Access Grants give a software team a common way to specify who can enter, which spaces they can use and when. Available credentials depend on the connected devices and systems. Your software provider connects that device workflow to its reservations and guest messages.

Check the connection you already have

Some software already offers this workflow. Hospitable, for example, documents automatic reservation codes and guest messaging for selected smart locks. Its supported-device list includes Schlage Encode Plus through the Schlage app and specified Yale Assure Lock 2 models through the Yale app. Model, app, keypad and connectivity requirements still apply.

If you use Hospitable, start with its connection guide. It explains property matching, plan requirements and conflicts with other services that generate codes. Verify an upcoming guest's access before relying on it.

For another PMS, ask the provider to confirm your exact setup. Seam supporting a device does not establish that your PMS has built a connection to it.

Send your software provider a useful request

Share the software you use, each lock's model and app, the properties and shared doors involved, and the access rules you need. Include what should happen after a cancellation, a time change or a failed code setup. Leave account passwords and guest access codes out of the request.

The provider can then confirm an existing integration or scope one with Seam. Its team owns reservation logic and guest communication. The property team owns the installed hardware, account access and the practical fallback when a guest cannot enter.

Share the guest-access requirements brief.
